Lithium batteries are widely used in energy storage power systems such as hydraulic, thermal, wind and solar power stations, as well as power tools, military equipment, aerospace and other fields. The traditional fusion prediction algorithm for the cycle life of energy storage in lithium batteries combines the correlation vector machine, particle filter and autoregressive model to predict the cycle life of lithium batteries, which are subjected to many uncertainties in the prediction process and to inaccurate prediction results. In this paper, a probabilistic prediction algorithm for the cycle life of energy storage in lithium batteries is proposed. The LS-SVR prediction model was trained by a Bayesian three-layer reasoning. In the iterative prediction phase, the Monte Carlo method was used to express and manage the uncertainty and its transitivity in a multistep prediction and to predict the future trend of a lithium battery&rsquo ; s health status. Based on the given failure threshold, the probability distribution of the residual life was obtained by counting the number of particles passing through the threshold. The wavelet neural network was used to study the sample data of lithium batteries, and the mapping relationship between the probability distribution of the residual life of lithium batteries and the unknown values were established. According to this mapping relation and the probability distribution of the residual life of lithium batteries, the health data could be deduced and then iterated into the input of the wavelet neural network. In this way, the predicted degradation curve and the cycle life of lithium batteries could be obtained. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has good adaptability and high prediction efficiency and accuracy, with the mean error of 0.17 and only 1.38 seconds by average required for prediction.

Trump and Bolsonaro are perceived as erratic presidents, but they may actually be quite rational. We explore two channels of manipulation in a polarized society. One relates to swing voters and their perception of a president's competence. The other one captures the effort by a president to appeal and mobilize her base voters. We model erraticism in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, but our model could also be applied to other realms of political manipulation. We find that erratic freedom propaganda directed against state-administered lockdowns may help a president in her re-election bid. Paradoxically, if the challenger gains popular support or increases voter mobilization against the president, it is optimal for the president to further increase erratic propaganda in order to increase the mobilization of her own supporters. Our predicted surge in voter mobilization is actually a main outcome of the 2020 US elections.

The conservation approach of "adaptive reuse", as a means to give new life to deteriorated heritage buildings, seems to receive criticism from people of Hong Kong in recent years. While the government tries to promote this conservation treatment to seek a balance between sustainable development and heritage conservation, the residents unsatisfied with the conservation results; and carrying a sense of criticism on government's too much intervention. Studies in recent years indicated different preference on "what to conserve" then a series of adaptive reuse potential model was constructed. However, there is limited research comparing different opinions on "how to conserve" and investigating the adaptive reuse outcomes of current projects in a comprehensive way. Hong Kong is a dynamic, contemporary city with short history. Relics in Hong Kong were often torn down once the economic returns of redevelopment much higher. Besides this, the limitation of resources both land and labor let the heritage buildings face the risks of demolition and redevelopment. "Change or continuity" and "reuse or demolition" have form the central argument for heritage conservation in Hong Kong. This dissertation uses the adaptive reuse of Wing Lee Street and Lui Seng Chun as a study case. Wing Lee Street is a completely government initiated project, while Lui Seng Chun is a product of government and non-government cooperation. Both cases possessing Hong Kong housing identity while sharing the same target, benefit community. Wing Lee Street took the compatible reuse approach while Lui Seng Chun adopted the appropriate reuse approach. Due to different reuse approach plus different stakeholders' involvement, the reuse outcomes are totally different. The original target of Lui Seng Chun has been successfully met while Wing Lee Street failed to meet the reuse objective. After a detailed analysis, the thesis found that, convert old buildings to new uses is a better strategy than demolish and a scheme that allow non-government to apply for will bring a win-win situation. Learn from Lui Seng Chun, in order to bring vibrant to the street, the thesis suggests that Wing Lee Street should either go back to private ownership or maintaining the original inhabitants and tenants. On the other hand, there are also some recommendations for future adaptive reuse projects in Hong Kong: towards a collaborative partnership between different groups of people; incentives to enhance the economic viability of the use uses; and the heritage building conservation plan should accompanied by a long-term building management plan. In the nutshell, adaptive reuse is not about developing mega-events without wholly grounded decision-making or pursuit economic development at the cost of residents' interests. It is more about engaging with the lives of those people who live in the city. This dissertation contributes to identifying the major factors of the sustainability framework for the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. The present research recruited participants from China, which is suffering from serious air pollution, and examined whether air pollution would be associated with moral judgment and immoral behavioral intention. Study 1 (n = 145) used the objective Air Quality Index to indicate the level of air pollution and found that it predicted harsh judgment on others&rsquo ; moral violations but did not predict judgment on others&rsquo ; non-moral negative behaviors or their own immoral behavioral intentions. Study 2 (n = 90) asked participants either to recall a past experience of being exposed to air pollution or to recall a neutral experience and consistently found that air pollution only influenced judgment on moral violations. The findings also ruled out the feeling of threat or the trust of government as possible mediators in the relationship between air pollution and harsh moral judgment.

PurposeThis study investigates how food safety trust works as a critical moderator in the Chinese online fresh agricultural market based on an extended technology acceptance model.Design/methodology/approachThe authors propose a research model that integrates attributes from the technology acceptance model, perceived product quality, logistics service quality, risk, and food safety trust. Structural equation modeling was applied to estimate the causal relationships using data from 851 Chinese customers.FindingsThe results indicated that perceived usefulness, product quality, and logistics service quality significantly enhance Chinese customers' intention to shop online for fresh agricultural products. Further, the positive effects increase when customer trust in food safety changes from low to high. In contrast, perceived risk reduces Chinese customers' willingness to engage in online shopping, but the negative influence is weaker for customers with high trust in food safety than for those with low trust. However, perceived ease of use plays an insignificant role in predicting online purchase intention and the impact does not vary depending on food safety trust.Originality/valueThis study suggests managers should consider the important moderating role of food safety trust to make effective strategies for fresh agricultural e-commerce development in China.

Social media is a prominent marketing tool to attract the attention of online target audiences, which can ultimately lead to increased website traffic. This study analyzed the relationship between social media marketing and brand equity, and examined whether customer brand engagement
acts as a mediator of this relationship. We conducted a survey with 275 college student WeChat users in China, and used structural equation modeling for data analysis. The results indicated there was a positive direct link between social media marketing and brand equity, with customer brand
engagement playing a mediating role. These findings provide valuable insights for brand managers in understanding the impact of social media marketing on fostering customer brand engagement and building brand equity.
